Is it common to need to slow down execution speed on Mobile?

At least for Android, it seems to help reliability of the test executing properly if I slow down execution speed. Is this common? And if so, do you guys have any other general recommendations for Mobile testing?

Sometimes the UI on mobile takes time to load and register for the events such as click listeners.
Our recorder for example already has the automation assistant technique to handle flakiness.
We also have the adaptive wait to handle timeouts.
